Ascension Pt II

Jean tries to talk sense into Xavier, Spyke to Storm and Scarlet Witch to Magneto, without using force to hurt them, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Wolverine, Cyclops and Nightcrawler infiltrate the Spinx to stop Apocalypse at the main controls.

As Apocalypse’s plan falls into place, the pyramids are lifted into space. The last few Sentinels are sent to attack the pyramids but fail to damage them. Beast has a plan and instructs everyone to attack and destroy the base of the pyramids that power the pyramids. The horsemen defending the pyramids prove too powerful. Jean uses Cerebro to boost her mental powers to fight her mentor, Xavier.

Wolverine, Cyclops and Nightcrawler are ambushed by Mystique. The Sentinels are successful in destroying a few pyramids in space. With the horsemen momentarily distracted, Scarlet Witch seizes the chance to destroy the base. Magneto immediately returns to guard his base. The Brotherhood arrive to aid Scarlet Witch attack Magneto. Apocalypse begins his evolution of the human race.

Jean is still battling Xavier on the astral plane. She displays a burst of immense power and stuns Xavier. Storm proves too powerful, even with her own power used against her. Wolverine holds his own against Mystique. His failsafe plan is put into action as Rogue finally arrives with Dorian Leech. Rogue absorbs Leech’s powers to neutralise Apocalypse in his chamber. Rogue traps Apocalypse in the chamber, and Wolverine activates the time travelling machine, sending Apocalypse into oblivion.

The X-Men and Brotherhood pick up the pieces after Apocalypse’s defeat. But Xavier returns with grim news.

Xavier: “Thanks to you all we have averted catastrophe, it is not without its price though. But steel is forged through fire, and like it we have been made stronger. We are prepared for what the future brings. I know this because I have glimpsed into the mind of Apocalypse. Many challenges still await us. But I saw some who have been our enemies become friends. And with a heavy heart, I saw the dearest of friends become the most terrible of our enemies. I saw my X-Men grow and change. And of course, I saw that some people never change. But one thing was clear, that no matter what awaits us, terrible or wondrous, the X-Men will always be there ready, and of that, I am proud.”
